LONE FLIER

Lady Bailey, wife of Sir Abe Bailey, has been awarded the title of “lady champion aviator of the world” by the committee of the International Union of Aviators. This is the first time the title has been awarded. Lady Bailey won the honour as a "lone flier,” one of the league's regulations providing that only women who fly alone or are accompanied by another woman pilot, can be considered. Lady Bailey holds the world’s height record for light airplanes. In Julv, in company with Mrs. Geoffrey de Haviland, she reached a height of 18,000 ft.
