FARMERS ON TOUR
800 VISIT SOUTHLAND CANTERBURY MEN’S IMPRESSIONS INVERCARGILL. To-day. Canterbury farmers, numbering nearly 800, who have spent two days motoring in. Southland, express themselves astounded "at the extent of the agricultural and pastoral country. They have been received by local bodies at various centres and royally entertained. The weather, which was unfavourable at first, has since been fine, enabling the visitors to get a splendid view of the country. Last evening an official dinner was held in the Drill Hall, when SOO were present, the ladies being entertained at a separate function. , To-day, half the party left in brilliant sunshine for Stewart Island by the tugs Southland and Theresa Ward. The others, who to-day will be the guests of the Southland Racing Club, visit the island to-morrow. The visitors, who are delighted with the reception* return home on Saturday* .
