MATLATIA AND TE KUME

TWO CRUISING RACES YACHTING HANDICAPS The re-sailed cruising race to Te Kume will be held on Saturday by the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron. The event will start off Victoria Wharf, Devonport, in deference to the Devonport Yacht Club, which had already been allotted the day. Devonport will sail a cruising race to Matiatia for mullet boats. In conjunction with the Tamaki Yacht Club a series of class races for smaller craft will be held over harbour courses. Details of the programme:— A, B and C Classes. —Cruising race to Te Kume: Start at 2 p.m. from eastern end of Victoria Wharf and mark-boat moored south. Entries are as follows: Ariki, lorangi, Thelma, Waitangi, Brize, Ilex, Nga-toa, Victory, Heartsease, Kotiri. Windward, Delville. Handicaps will be declared on Saturday morning. H, L and N Classes. —General handicap race to Matiatia: Start at 2.30 p.m. Direct to Matatia, observing all fairway marks, finishing between northern point of Mataitia Bay and the yacht VaJykre moored south. Entries and handicaps are: Celox, scr. and scr.; Staxloch, 4xn and lm: Marie, Sim arid 4im; Louisa, 11m and sm; Naiad, 11m and 5Jm; Wairere, 13m and 6£m; Rahiri, 16m and 7m; Hilda, 16m and 7m. HARBOUR RACES V and S Classes.- —Start at 2.40 p.m. Course: Start between Victoria Wharf and mark-boat moored south* thence round Sandspit, thence round Resolution, thence round Sandspit, thence round mark off St. Heliers Wharf, keeping north of Bean Rock Light, thence to finishing line between Kohi. Wharf and mark-boat moored north. Entries and handicaps are: Magic, scr.; Wild Wave, scr.; Rival, 8m; Mascot, Bin. . M Class. —Start at J3.5© p.m. Course: Same as for V and S. Entries: Ma.roro, Manene, Matarere, Mischief, Mara tea, Mawhiti and Maia. T, X and Y Classes. —Start at 3 p.m. Course: Same as for M, V and S. Entries and handicaps: Alerte, scr.; Kismet, lm: Marie, 4m: Eleanor. 9m; Nyria* 10m; Shirley, 10m; Sheila, 11m. The officials will be: Starter. Mr. W. A. Wilkinson; judge, Mr. F. 11. Brown; timekeepers. Captain Barnes and Mr. V. P. Stuart.
