ALISON MEMORIAL

CLOCK FOR DEVONPORT The citizens of Devonport and Takapuna have subscribed over £ 300 to erect an Alison Memorial clock and tower at Devonport. .. The suggestion to erect the clock was made by the Mayor of Devonport at the celebration of the golden wedding of Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Alison in 1926. and was well supported. The clock will have four dials controlled by a master clock, which will be electrically operated, and is guaranteed not to vary more than one second a day. The tower has been designed to withstand movements caused by the firing of guns at the forts or on the warships, and is to be built of reinforced concrete finished in plaster to represent stonework.
