POLITICAL VIOLENCE
CHICAGO BOMB OUTRAGES CITIZENS APPREHENSIVE By Cable.—Press Association. — Copyright. CHICAGO, Wednesday. Two weeks of political violence are expected in Chicago. As a result of the partial destruction with bombs of the homes of Mr. C. S. Deneen, representative member of the Senate for Chicago, and Judge Swanson, the citizens are prepared for further outrages until the primary elections take place on April 10. No arrests have been made, but armed guards have been posted in and about the homes of all officials. Reports from Washington indicate that concern is felt there about the situation, but the Federal authorities are said to have no power to interfere in the State primary elections. A police investigation is in hand and large rewards have been offered for the bringing to justice of the bombers. Mr. Deneen’s home was bombed after his attendance at the funeral of “Don Joe” Esposito, a murdered gangster.—A. and N.Z.
