Poisoned Town

ARSENIC IN CUCUMBERS SOVIET BLAMED By Cable.—Press Association. — Copyright. Reed. 9.5 a.m. LONDON, Monday. The Warsaw correspondent of the “Daily Mail” states that Vilna reports a mysterious attempt to poison the population of Minsky by soiling 300 casks of arsenicised pickled cucumbers, resulting in 100 victims in one day. The authorities, through cinemas, theatres and restaurants, notified the public to eschew cucumbers. They arrested Kozdan, a seller of several casks, and compelled him to eat one of his own cucumbers, making him seriously ill. The affair is reported to be a terroristic act by the Soviet, as a pretext for further wholesale arrests in White Russia.—Sun.
