On Two Whells
NEWS AND NOTES DOUBLE-BANKING Under the motor regulations recently gazetted double-banking is approved under certain conditions. The stipulations in brief are these: Only two persons may ride on a solo machine, the extra one on the carrier (not on the tank), and seated astride Foot rests must be provided—this is important, but has apparently been overlooked by several Auckland riders. With a sidecar, not more than four persons in all may ride on the machine; that is, two on the cycle and two in the sidecar. This convenience will be very much appreciated by motor-cyclists everywhere, but they would be well advised to follow the stipulations carefully. Don’t good thing. SALES IN FEBRUARY. Sales of new motor-cycles throughout New Zealand during the month of February were as follow:—B.S.A., 57; A.J.S., 51; Douglas, 39; Triumph, 37; Indian, 34; Harley-Davidson, 28; Raleigh, 14; New Hudson, 13; Royal Enfield, 11; other makes, 74. Total, 358. Of this total the Auckland postal district headed the list with 78 sales, the Christchurch district second, 52 sales; and Wellington third, with 48 sales of all makes. New Plymouth and Wanganui were next with 43 sales.
