The New Zealand Co-operative R u v, ber and Motor Supply Company ,1 being promoted to centralise buvw and service for motorists on a'cn operative basis. The present position in New Zealand is that many leading brands of tvre are handled direct by overseas maim* facturers. to whom a compact finan cial combination of motorist* wiliT~~ commend itself. The company is a unique undertak ing in that it is the onlv one eoncen trating with rubber, benzine, and motoi supplies on co-operative principles. * Turnover in tyres alone can h* gauged by the fact that there are ove--30,000 motor-vehicles within the sconl of immediate operations, and this do*not take into account the enormous possibilities with the general public fc» rubber articles of domestic and farm use. The consumption of everyday commodities such as tennis shoes, gumboots, garden hose, milkers’ good;' wringer rollers, waterproof coats, crepe soles, boot heels, bath mats, doormat« floor covering and tiling, golf balls, terms balls, bathing caps, hot water bagfootball linings, etc., represent bus J ness within the scope of the first retail concern to develop the opportunity offering. The company intends to service rubber throughout by means of a depot in the heart of the city, equipped wiih I the latest in plant for repairs. It will also service benzine and oils with a drive-through petrol station. Substations will be established later n suburbs and country centres, and the:s6 will be equipped for quick service. All goods and service will be available at fair market rates to both shareholders and the public generally. Mail order business will be encouraged with customers in remote placf s. and every facility will be afforded to promote trade by good service generally. With a thoroughly efficient headquarters staff, and a representative body of shareholders, the company will be in the position to give its patrons a service and supply company second to none in the Dominion. Motor owner> and patrons generally will on their part have the opportunity of becoming shareholders in an organisation conducted on sound co-operative principles, and, while paying a handsome return on capital invested, will sect ro for themselves all the benefits obtainable from bulk buying and economic distribution. | In short, the main objective is to establish a mass-buying organisation, that will afford customers a measure of protection against uneconomic methods of service that so frequently are the cause of trade combinations and other conditions that militate against marketing commodities at fair and reasonable prices. The undertaking, run on the foregoing lines, and receiving its due measure of support by tho public, will justify itself in stabilising prices, and while giving maximum value and service, will provide profitable dividends. The promoters have such confidence in the success of the company that they feel they can promise a 10 per cent dividend upon the first year's operations, after providing for sufficient reserves.
