KING COUNTRY ROAD
ALL WEATHER ROUTE EARLY COMPLETION (From Our Own Correspondent.) TAUMARUNUI, To-day. Practically all local bodies in the Central King Country have been unaniin their agitation to have the Te Kuiti-Taumarunui main highway completed at an early date. Various reasons have been advanced by the Main Highways Board for the delay in the work, but there seems cause to believe now that an “allweather” route will be consummated much sooner than was originally anticipated. Mr. Fiirkert, chairman of the Main Highways Board, has notified the Taumarunui Chamber of Commerce that in view of certain modifications in the original method of construction and metalling on the oute, it is hoped that connection between the two towns will be given at a much earlier date than would otherwise have been the case.
