SCIENTIST’S SECRET IN THE SUN’S KEEPING
“THEORY OF CANCER” PREVENTION AND CURE In a sealed package the “theory of cancer, its cause, prevention and cure,” discovered by Mr. F. R. Field, scientist, of Auckland, was this day put in the safe of The Sun-Newspapers, Ltd. Mr. Field is confident that his secret theory will cure the scourge, but he will not make it public until he has tested it thoroughly. This is the instruction on the sealed envelope: “This package contains all essential information as to my theory. It is entrusted to the safe custody of The Sun newspaper at Auckland, N.Z., pending further investigations and the communication of my views to medical authorities. “It is to be opened only at my request or, in the event of my death, by the president of the Auckland branch of the British Medical Association. The editor of The Sun may be present at the opening, to note the contents and use them, as it is hoped the B.M.A. may be able to do, for any possible public benefit. Immediately after sealing this package on the evening of March 23, 1928, I will explain the contents to Dr. , of Auckland, in confidence.” It is witnessed by the Auckland doctor. There is a postscript which states. “In the event of the president of the Auckland branch of the B.M.A. not desiring to open this envelope after • death, I authorise the editor of The Sun to do so and to make public the contents of this document.”
