CLAUDELANDS ANGLICANS

‘NOT IRRESPONSIBLE” REPLY TO BISHOP (From Our Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, To-day. A reply to the Bishop of Waikato’s statement that the result of the meeting of parishioners of Claudelands was the work of “irresponsibles” is published in a Waikato paper by Mr. F. A. Snell, of Claudelands. In his letter Mr. Snell says: “Referring to the bishop’s statement that the result of the meeting of parishioners held on Tuesday evening was the work of ‘irresponsibles,’ 1 wish to say that it ill becomes the bishop of a new diocese to make such a tactless and absurd statement, and only goes to show how utterly devoid lie apparently is of any sense of the sterling work done by the people lie sees fit to dub irresponsibles. “His Lordship will yet learn that the Claudelands meeting was composed of men and women .who are keenly interested in the work of the Church, and the maintenance of the principles for which reformers gave their lives. “That meeting of ‘irresponsibles’ was sufficiently alive to the present state of affairs to prevent the main issue being clouded, and further they will under no circumstances be. browbeaten or sidetracked.”
