KAURI-GUM CONTROL

MEETING OF BOARD The regular meeting of the Kauri Gum Control Board was held at the board’s ollice, Hobson Street, Auckland, on Thursday and Friday, all members being present. Mr. M. H. Wynyard was in the chair. A circular was issued by the board giving a statement of its policy and activities up to date, as well as various suggestions as to getting up and shipping their gum. It was reported that the amount of gum sent to the board for sale is steadily increasing and that possession had been taken of the board’s new premises in Nelson Street extension. This was rendering the transaction of business much easier. Several applications for the upliftment of the reservation over lands included in kauri gum reserves were received from the Lands Department. Inspection had been made of certain of these lands on behalf of the board, which recommended that the applications be granted. Consideration of several applications was deferred. Further applications were received for the granting of gum-buyers’ licences, these being granted with the exception of several held over for further investigation. At the request of the Department of

Industrial arfd Scientific Research, samples of kauri gum are being sent to England for testing, with a view to kauri gum being used for speical purposes.
