PAPATOETOE HOCKEY
CLUB’S ANNUAL MEETING The annual meeting of the Papatoetoe Hockey Club was held last evening. the president, Dr. A. B. Jameson, being in the chair. There was a large attendance of members and intending members. The meeting was of a very enthusiastic nature, and promises well for a very successful season. The balance sheet showed a obit balance of £5 9s 2d, which was considered satisfactory, on account of the expenditure necessary in laying out the grounds last season. It was decided that three teams be entered in the Auckland Association’s competitions, viz., second, third and fourth. The first practice will be held on Saturday, March 31.
Application is to be made to the Town Board for the allocation of two playing grounds. It was decided to apply for the club colours to be red and black hoops, or blue and gold hoops. The following .officers were elected: President, Dr. A. B. Jameson; vicepresidents, Dr. J. J. Valentine, Messrs. P. Pennell, T. R. Smytheman, G. Foster, Jackson, E. S. Sorensen and T. H. Bryant; secretary and treasurer, Mr. F. E. Carr; committee, Messrs. F. B. Thompson, F. Catt, Postlewaight, W. McFarland and captain of each team; delegate to the Auckland Association, Mr. Postlewaight. It is the intention of the club to call a meeting at an early date of the ladies of the district who are interested in the formation of a women’s club.
