Simpson especially played a very sound innings. He contributed a bright 40 runs before he was caught at mid-off by Gibson.. PALMER HITS OUT Up to this stage of the game rungetting had been very slow, but when Palmer joined Pearson after lunch he began to knock the bowlers all over the field, and had not the tail-enders been skittled so easily he would have been set for a big score. Pearson went shortly after lunch, after contributing a fine 54. He batted for nearly two hours. King’s College was all out for 134. Christ’s College Old Boys made a disastrous start, Simpson, the King’s fast bowler, dismissing two of their best bats in the first over for one run. Averill and Prime each played a very good innings for Christ’s College. The former showed the spectators some very fine shots, and seemed about the only batsman who could make runs off Simpson.
