PRINCESS AND TIVOLI

“THE VALLEY OF THE GIANTS” The beautiful redwood country of California, Mecca of thousands of tourists each year, is the locale of Milton Sills’s latest starring vehicle, “The Valley of the Giants,” which comes to the Princess and Tivoli Theatres to-night.

The story is from the novel of that name by Peter B. Kyne, and is an ideal vehicle for the talents of Sills. It deals with life in the open, in a wild country where “men are men” and there is no place for a weakling. Sills and his company spent many weeks deep in the forest of redwoods, in lumber camps and at mills, making scenes for “The Valley of the Giants” in the exact spots that Kyne so ably wrote of. The story has a virility and a compelling interest that few pictures possess, as the result of its being taken under the exact conditions the author dealt with in the original story. Doris Kenyon plays opposite Sills in this picture, which was directed by Charles Brabin and produced for First National release by Wid Gunning. Arthur Stone, Paul Hurst, Yola d’Avril, George Fawcett, Charles Sellon, Fred O’Beck, Phil Brady and many other favourites are seen in support of Sills. “The Wolf’s Trail,” starring Dynamite, the canine actor, will also be screened at both theatres.
