CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS

WALKER AND CLARKE IN BOWLING FINAL DECIDING MATCH TO-DAY Keen and interesting play marked the final stages of the Auckland Bowling Centre’s champion of champions singles tournament at the Carlton Green yesterday. As a result of the day’s play, “Max” Walker (Auckland) and H. Clarke, two of Auckland's most brilliant bowlers, reached the final. Walker and Clarke met in the seventh round yesterday, and an exciting duel took place. Walker started off with his customary brilliance, and shot ahead right from the start. The Carlton man took some time to strike his best form, but once in his stride, made up the leeway rapidly, and he was beat by only a single point at the finish. Results: Seventh Round.—Walker, 18, v. Clarke, 17; James, a bye. Eighth Round.—Walker. 19, v. James, 11; Clarke, a bye.
