He hopes to alight on the ice at the Pole and take possession of any land on behalf of Italy.—A. and N.Z. NEW YORK, Monday. A message from Fairbanks, Alaska, says Captain G. H. Wilkins, accompanied by his pilot, Lieutenant Eielson, hopped off for Point Barrow this morning, and landed there this afternoon. After preparatory flights at Point Barrow, which is the most northerly point of Alaska, the airmen pro- | pose to set out for Svalbard (Spitz--1 bergen).—A. and N.Z.-Sun.
