WILKINS AND NOBILE AVIATORS FOR SPITZBERGEN By Cable.—Press Association. — Copyright. Reed. 9.5 a.m. ROME, Tuesday: General Nobile’s dirigible Italia has returned to Milan after a twenty-five hours’ trial, which was a complete success. General Nobile says he will take her to the North Pole without misgiving. He will probably go to Spitzbergen on April 1, accompanied by 10 scientists. He hopes to alight on the ice at the Pole and take possession of any land on behalf of Italy.—A. and N.Z. NEW YORK, Monday. A message from Fairbanks, Alaska, says Captain G. H. Wilkins, accompanied by his pilot, Lieutenant Eielson, hopped off for Point Barrow this morning, and landed there this afternoon. After preparatory flights at Point Barrow, which is the most northerly point of Alaska, the airmen pro- | pose to set out for Svalbard (Spitz--1 bergen).—A. and N.Z.-Sun.
