CHASED WIFE AND KNOCKED HER DOWN
MAORI PROHIBITED Arriving home in a drunken state yesterday afternoon, a Maori, Behina Parata, chased his wife out of the house and into the street, where he knocked her down and inflicted head injuries. He appeared at the Onehunga Police Court this morning, before Messrs. J. Laking and F. C. Soar, J.P.’s, charged with assaulting his wife, and pleaded guilty. Sergeant Cruickshank stated that the accused was a quiet, well-behaved man when not in liquor. The accused consented to take out a prohibition order, and was thereupon convicted and ordered to come i y p for sentence if called on within 12 months.
