STICK OR STRAP?
Information about corporal punishment in schools and particularly “as to whether a stick or a strap is usable,” was asked of the Auckland Education Board to-day by the Kaikohe School Committee. “I should say the strap,” said the chairman, Mr. A. Burns. Mr. H. S. W. King (with a smile): Both are certainly usable. The chairman; Well, the board says the strap should be used. Canada is also seeking information about the “administration” of the rod in New Zealand schools. The Toronto “Star” wrote asking for a report. The board decided to provide the information.
