FATAL MISTAKE

POISON FOR PHYSIC TRAGEDY AT WAIHI (From Our Own Correspondent.) WAIHI, To-day. An inquest was opened in Waihi this morning relating to the death of Mrs. Bernice Elizabeth Johnson, the wife of Mr. Edward Johnson, of Waikino, who died in Waihi Hospital on Monday morning as the resu.t of poisoning. It appears that deceased was in the habit of taking liquorice powder and on Sunday night she got hold of the wrong bottle by mistake and took a large dose of deadly poison before being aware of her mistake. She became ill immediately and was removed to the Waihi Hospital, but never recovered. Formal evidence of identification was given at the inquest, which was then adjourned sine die.
