FIRST-HAND EVIDENCE

SPECIAL SQUAD FOR FIXING GUILT To fix the blame of accidents and secure evidence which will convict reckless motorists implicated, an “Evidence Squad” is operating in Cleveland (U.S.A.). It consists of a police sergeant and constable equipped with a fast car. One man is photographer, and the second a reporter. When an accident is reported they hurry to the scene. Photos are taken from a number of angles, and the second member of the squad secures the names of all persons concerned, together with statements of witnesses, which are typed and signed upon the spot, while memories are fresh. Police thus have complete and accurate evidence on which to base a prosecution if necessary. The squad has secured many manslaughter convictions, and helped to trace and apprehend dozens of hit-and-run drivers.
