“VALLEY OF THE GIANTS”
COMING TO PRINCESS AND TIVOLI
“The Valley of the Giants.” from Peter B. Kyne’s world-famous story of the same name, and which will be shown at the Princess and Tivoli Theatres on Thursday, has turned out an ideal vehiqLg for the virile' Milton Sills, who enacts the title role.
His wife, Boris Kenyon, who returns to the screen after a prolonged absence, appears opposite to him the daughter of his father’s business rival. Their separate characterisations are remarkably fine, particularly that of Sills, as Bryce Cardigan, the man who pitted himself against Nature and human nature in the romantic locale of the giant redwoods of California. The locale is refreshingly interesting, being set in th' natural wonders of the marvellous forests of the redwood country, which alas are destined
for despoliation at th© hands of man. Interesting insights are afforded into the workings of a huge* lumber clmp, fine shots that show the huge giants of thd forests in their natural setting and carried through the process of being cut and pre-
pared for commercial uses. The story material, of course, is well known, Kyne’s book having enjoyed such a remarkably unusual sale, and the ingenious plot has been given its true value in this fine production. The strong supporting cast includes Arthur, Stone, Paul Hurst and George Fawcett.
“Wolf’s Trail,” a thrilling story of the west, in which Universal is starring “Bynamite,” the famous police dog, was written by Basil Bickev. This newest Universal Western will also be screened at Princess and Tivoli Theatres on Thursday. Supporting “Dynamite” are Edmund Cobb, Bixio Lament, Edwin Terry, Joe Bennett and others.
