Obituary

MR. JOHN LYONS SCOTT Mr. John Lyons Scott, who died yesterday at Farnell. was born at Liverpool and migrated to Australia in the early fifties. At the age of 16 Mr. Scott came to New Zealand, l*eing attracted to the Thames goldfields. In 1879 he was appointed headmaster at Matakaiu School. Three years later he became headmaster at the Avondale School where he remained for 12 years, after which he went to the Parnell School where he remained for 18 years. He was, for many years, a member of the Auckland Bowling Club. Mr. Scott is survived by three daughters —Mrs. Robert Speight, of Auckland, and the Misses Scott of Parnell. The funeral will leave Cleveland Road for the Ilirewa Cemetery this afternoon.
