McLeish. late chief officer of the Wahine, left Wellington yesterday for Sydney, to receive instructions. Mr. C. G. Hill has relieved Mr. A. H. Dunnings as third officer of the Tamahine. The latter officer is taking holidays at Picton. Captain J. G. Watson has been appointed master of the Kurow, relieving Captain W. Whitefield, who is awaiting instructions. RIMUTAKA AT SOUTHAMPTON. — The New Zealand Shipping Company’s passenger liner Rimutaka is reported to have reached Southampton from Auckland on Saturday. She was despatched from here on February 3. MAHANA AT WELLINGTON.—The Shaw, Savill, and Albion Company s steamer Maliana arrived at YVel ling toil on Saturday morning from Wanganui. She is now timed to sail finally from Wellington at daybreak on Thursday lor London, via Panama. OTIMAI AND TUHOE.-A Press Association message from Opotiki states that owing to shallow water at the Opotiki Bar all shipping has been held up for the first time for a considerable period. The Northern Company’s cargo vessels Otimai and Tuhoe are held up at Kutarere. An endeavour will be made, however, to the bar by bringing only part, cargo from Kutarere, the remainder being brought to Opotiki later. PORT ADELAIDE’S VOYAGE.*—-The C and D. Line steamer Port Adelaide, which arrived in the stream at WeHing ton on Thursday night from London will leave the capital at noon to-morrow loi Auckland and New Plymouth, to complete discharge. She is due here o# Thursdav. The Port Adelaide left London on February 15, and had a fineweather and uneventful voyage, via Panama Canal, to Wellington. Captain L. H. Swan is master of the Port Adelaide, and his officers are the following:—Chief, Mr, G. S. Hall: second, Mr. E. Rogerson; third, Mr. F. Laverns; chief engineer, Mr. P. Grainger; second, Mr H. SOMERSET FROM LIVERPOOL. — With general merchandise from Newport, Avonmouth, Glasgow and Liverpool, the Federal Line steamer Somerset reached Auckland yesterday morning. The vessel berthed at Queen’s Wharf to unload a quantity of cargo to the agency of the New Zealand Shipping Company. The remainder of the cargo is for Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin and Blufl. She sailed from Liverpool on February 7, and encountered boistei-ous weather during the first week from port. After passing the Azores the conditions improved and generally fair weather prevailed during the remainder of the voyage. She reached Colon on February 24, and after replenishing her oil fuel at Balboa she cleared Panama the same day. Captain J.
