MARINE PARK

MINISTER SYMPATHETIC DISCUSSION ON MOTUIHI While in Wellington at the weekend the Mayor, Mr. G. Baildon, and town clerk, Mr. J. S. Brigham, waited on the Minister of Health on the subject of securing Motuihi or portion of it as a marine park. The suggestion was made that if it was necessary to maintain the quarantine island this portion should be entirely enclosed, so that the remainder could be available to the public, the city wanting particularly the beautiful beaches. The Mayor gained the impression that the Minister was sympathetic. As the Agricultural Department is interested it is likely that the position will remain as at present until the return of the Director-General of Agriculture from England.
