SHEEP-DOG TRIALS
CLUB FORMED AT TUAKAU Delegates from Glenmurray, Pukekawa, Onewhero, Port Waikato and Tuakau attended a meeting at Tuakau on Friday, and decided to form a district Sheep Dog Trials Club. Officers were elected as follows: Patron. Mr. W. Lee Martin, M.P.; president, Mr. K. D. Orr; vice-presidents, Messrs. J. Fleming and O. McCutcheon; committeemen, Messrs. H. Brown and D. McAlpine, Tuakau; J. Caswell and L. Canton, Port Waikato; W. Murray and R. Paulsen, Glenmurray; J. Slater and M. Mackey, Pukekawa; and B. Walter and J. Dromgool, Onewhero; secretary, Mr. A. H. Tapper; assistant-secretary, Mr. B. Lacy; treasurer, Mr. D. McAlpine. It was reported that over £134 had been subscribed, and a number of promises of donations had been received. The club’s first sheep-dog trials will be held on May 30 and 31. The offer of Mr. M. Maki to donate a gold medal for competition among local maiden dogs within a 20-mile radius, was accepted.
