PAEROA, To-day. Fine weather is favouring the Ohinemun Jockey Club for the concluding ° f lts annual meeting at Paeroa. -There is a large attendance, while the track is in excellent order. Lady Spalpeen Does Better Seven were left to contest the Second Hurdles Handicap when the pen was put through the names </f Gold Rain and Fane. A spirited duel between Kawini, £642, and Lady Spalpeen, £624, for the position of favourite. saw the former prevail, while the only other horse really backed was Archibald, £597. Kawa and Archibald were first over the initial hurdle, and along the back Kawa was in the van from Mia Belle, Lady Spalpeen, and King Amans. Passing the stand. King Amans headed Kawa, and he led out of the straight, being attended by Lady Spalpeen, Archibald, Mia Bella, and Kawini. With the exception of Kawa, who had drifted back, the same order was maintained along the back. Nearing the straight, Lady Spalpeen assumed command, and she led into the home stretch, with King Amans, Archibald, and Ka.wini, handy. In the run to the judge, Lady Spalpeen went on to have the easiest of wins by three lengths from King Amans, who was four lengths in front of Archibald and Kawini, who deadheated for third money. cap. Schorr, £1,099, was a prenounced favourite and Piet, £902, was also in demand and these two were first and second respectively. Desert Knight began smartly and he led out from Whaka King, Schorr and Piet. Passing aloru* the back be moved into the van and he was closely attended by Desert Knight, Schorr, Piet and Flitter. Crossing the top there were further changes, Piet taking command from Auriculus, who had improved her position considerably. Piet was the first to turn for home and was closely pursued by Auriculus, Whaka King and Schorr. The lastnamed came through at the distance and was going comfortably to beat Piet by a couple of lengths. Auriculus was a similar distance away third and then at intervals came Lord Abbey, Whaka King, who stopped badly over the last bit, and Desert Knight. WAITEKAURI HANDICAP Of £200; 6 furlongs. Another Favourite Wins All started in the Waitekauri handicap and those who carried most money were Lucy Rose £1,098, Avon Court £946 and Winnington £561, the order in which the trio finished. Katarena and Avon Court began smartly and they were the early leaders. Running along the back Winnington moved into the van and he led Lucy Rose and Te Taone. Crossing the top, however, Lucy Rose, Katarena and Avon Court were practically on terms, while close up came Winnington and Mawuaena. Lucy Rose headed Katarena nearing the straight, and he was the first to turn fo.r home from Avon Court, Winnington and Mawuaena. In the run to the post the leader maintained her advantage and won fairly easily by three-quarters of a length fro mAvon Court, who beat Winnington by a head. Mawuaena was fourth and next came Katarena and Moehau. SHAW MEMORIAL HANDICAP Of £350; 1 mile 110 yards 4 MAC ROOM (Mrs. P. Carter), ch m, by Archiestown —Lady Gwendoline, 4yrs, 7.12, O.
