New Zealander Acts as Good Samaritan

The “Evening Nexes’* says that an unknown Good Samaritan, usually in evening dress, arriving in a limousine and sometimes accompanied by ladies, has frequently visited the Embankment recently after midnight. 'With his pockets filled with silver he walks the full length of the Embankment distributing money to the down-and-outs, whom he sends off to more comfortable sleeping quarters. Apart from revealing himself as a Neio Zealander, he refuses any information about himself, saying, “Although I am now successful, 1 was once down and out. 1 was so hungry and destitute as a youth that 1 ate orange-peel. 1 feel intensely for the poor and truto tell youngsters of the wonopportunities overseas. —
