NAKED PROWLER
GREY LYNN AFFAIR WOMEN REPORT APPEARANCE CHILD MOLESTED Grey Lynn has been suffering from a series of major and minor sensations —including the repeated appearance of a naked prowler—that are causing the residents to express serious concern at the fact that the large and closely-settled area possesses only one constable. A man, reported to be young and dark, started the recent series by appearing to several unaccompanied women, in an unclothed state. Twice he appeared at the same place, the times being a fortnight apart. The first woman to notice him had gone out to her front gate in search of a truant dog, and saw the naked figure standing under a street light. The time was after 11 p.m. A fortnight later another woman member of the family, walking up from Regina Street, was suddenly confronted by the same or a similar naked man. She had to walk past him, but the stranger made no remark, nor did he attempt to molest her in any way. He disappeared immediately. For a few weeks there has been a lull, though there is a report that the man was afterwards seen in the Westmere district. The next activity uppears to have come from the same man. and concerned the enticing of a small girl away into a paddock. Fortunately the mother of the child was in quest of her at the time, and she saw the man. and rang for the police. However, there was no policeman immediately available, and the shades of evening descended on the scene without the watchers seeing anything further of the offender. This occurred during this week. In addition to these events there have been a few petty burglaries, including one in which a number of carpenters lost valuable tools.
