ANEMONES FROM SEED

GROW YOUR OWN BULBS The anemone, St. Brigid, may be successfully grown from seed without the help of a greenhouse. All that is required is a sheltered bed protected from cold winds. The seed being very fluffy, should be mixed with sand before sowing and dibbled along thinly in rows. Cover lightly with a mixture of sand and soil and see that they receive a good water supply. Seedlings begin to appear in about four weeks and should be carefully hand-thinned, the thinnings being used in other places. Seeds sown very early will produce flowers the first season, but if the sowing is left till March or April they may only make bulbs for planting out the following season.
