“IF”
LITTLE THEATRE SOCIETY The presentation of “If,” Lord Dunsany’s remarkable play, by the Auckland Little Theatre Society, will be an event of some importance. The play itself requires careful and elaborate handling, and the society is making every effort to outdo its past performances. Beginning on March 28 at the concert chamber of the Town Hall the season Avill be for four nights. Dunsany has a subtle wit, a fantastic mind and a fine stage sense. “If” is numbered among his best plays, and has the added charm of being the first te be presented in Auckland. Among the cast will be Messrs. Montague Steele, Jack Gordon, F. E. McCallum, Tom Harris, Jack Stewart, Arnold Goodwin and Captain Redmond, Misses Marie Gaudin, Joy Bartley, Beryl Nettleton and Bettina Edwards. Mary Bickford’s cousin. Isabelle Sheridan, makes her screen debut in the star’s new United Artists’ production, “My Best Girl,” to be screened shortly in Auckland. Aside from having much the same colouring, Miss Sheridan does not resemble her famous relative, but Miss Bickford, believing the girl possessed film possibilities, offered her the role of a sales girl in the comedy-ro-mance of an American bargain store.
