Quake At Wellington. —A slight earthquake shock was felt in Wellington yesterday morning at 7.27. The direction of the earthquake, which was of brief duration, seemed to be north and south, with a perceptible, although slight, tilt of the land to the south.

Justices of Peace Conference. —The New Zealand Federation of Justices of the Peace will open its annual conference in Auckland on Wednesday morning next. Mr. H. H. Smith, of Christchurch, will preside, and delegates from all parts of the Dominion will be present. The Mayor, Mr. G. Baildon, will probably open the procedings. A comprehensive programme of entertainment has been arranged by the local association.
