Papakura Club The annual meeting of the Papakura Golf Club was held on Thursday evening. Mr. E. D. McLennan, M.P., presided over an attendance of thirty. The secretary reported that the membership had been well maintained, the membership at the end of the season being 35 ladies and 28 men. . During last season the links were made available for play over the week-end. * This was much appreciated. The • ladies’ club registered three wins and only by the smallest margin lost two , others out of seven games played. Matches were arranged for junior ■ ladies. Various improvements had been , made to the course during the year, and a putting green had been put down. The following new members were nominated and admitted: Mr. V. Prince, , Mr. and Mrs. Duncan McLennan, Mrs. S. Carpenter, Miss Stella Andrea, Miss Mavis Clarke. Junior members: Mr. Ralph Grey, Mr. Jack Mullins, Miss Kathleen Brooks; honorary members, Mrs. Thomas Brooks. The meeting decided to increase the men’s fees by 10s to cope with the ever - increasing expenditure. The men’s club declared a credit balance of £2O and the ladies club of £3. The question of a coach was left to the committee to consider, also the opening day. The following officers were elected: President, Mr. E. D. McLennan; vicepresidents, Messrs. P. J. Parker and A. R. McLennan; captain, Mr. W. A. Pavitt; committee (general), Messrs. J. E. Elliott, G. M. Tilston, E. A. J. Busing, Knight, and Mesdqmes E. C. Foote, F, Johnstone and Miss A. McLennan; secretary and treasurer, Mr. Gordon Smith. The Ladies' Golf Club officers were elected as follow: —Captain, Miss A. McLennan; vice-captain, Miss White; secretary, Mrs. E. A. J. Busing; treasurer, Mrs. W. A. Pavitt; committee, Mesdames J. E. Elliott and H. Walters, and Misses Wilkins, Harris, C. Wood, O’Callaghan and White. AT WAIUKU A committee meeting of the Waiuku Golf Club was held on Wednesday night, the club captain, Mr. W. S. Colbeck, presiding. The following committees were elected: Match committee, Messrs. W. S. Colbeck, J. Forbes and T. R. Bloomfield; green committee, Dr. C. E. Howden, Messrs. A. Christianson and C. C. Munro; house committee, Messrs. J. Forbes, W. S. Colbeck and B. C. Ward. The committee x*esolved to obtain an estimate for the cost of concreting the floor of the club house. It was decided to hold home and home matches with the Auckland, Maungakiekie, Pukekohe and Everslie Golf Clubs, and in addition to have the usual monthly medal and bogey matches, and if possible two handicap match play tournaments. The official opening day was fixed for March 17, when mixed foursomes will be played. GLENDOWIE CLUB The greatest interest was taken by members of the Glendowie Golf Club at its annual meeting last evening. Mr. J. O. Lilly was chairman. There was a large attendance, including many associates. The inclement conditions which prevailed throughout last season have in no way affected the optimism of members and a thoroughly successful year is anticipated. In spit© of the hot summer, work has continued gradually during the past four months and when the season opens on April 14 an excellent course will await the trials and tribulations of all members. Tlie opening event will be a mixed foursomes. For the season 1928 Mr. McArthur was elected president of the club, the retiring president being Mr. K. Brookfield, to whom a hearty vots of thanks was accorded with acclamation. The following members form the committee for the current season: Messrs. A. Bunting, J. Hall, C. W. Garrard, F. Faram and G. L. Goodwin. Mr. F. Trice was again elected captain, Mr. R. D. Garrard hon. treasurer and Mr. H. E. Goodwin, hon. auditor. The opportunity was taken of presenting tli© prizes won by members during the 1927 season and these were presented by Mrs. Warren, captain of the Women’s Club, as follow: Canadian foursomes, R. Edmunds and E. Bradley; mixed foursomes, Miss H. Sharland and O. Wolfgramm; bogey handicap, P. 0.. Niccolls; 36-hole eclectic, R. R. Kissling, senr., P. C. Niccolls, junr.; four-ball, O. Wolfgramm and T. Russell; C grade •'medal, F. Farrarn; flag match, H. Goodwin; captain’s tourney, R. R. Kissling and N. Hockin; president’s foursomes, O. Wolfgramm and T. Russell; bogey handicap, Dr. Horton; 36-hole medal, N. Ching, senr., E. W. Garrard, junr.; medal handicap, H. E. Goodwin; senior championship, R. R. Kissling*; runner-up, N. Ching; junior championship, R. Garrard; runner-up, J. Hall; Canadian foursomes, T. Niccolls and W. Meik; sealed holes handicap, R. Edmonds; mixed foursomes, Mrs. Stanley and H. Hockin; four-ball bogey, R. Garrard and P. Niccolls, C. Garrard and J. Hall.
