TRADE WITH RUSSIA
COMBINED EMPIRE ACTION RECOMMENDED By Cable.—Press Association. — Copyright. Reed. 9.5 a.m. OTTAWA, Thursday. Canada broke off official trade relations with the Soviet in May, 1927, because Russia did not fulfil its promise to refrain from hostile action against institutions of the British Empire. As disclosed by documents tabled in the House of Commons, the correspondence shows that the Secretary of State for the Dominions, Mr. L. S. Amery, suggested that uniformity of action by various members of the British Commonwealth of Nations would present a great advantage.—A. and N.Z.
