PERSONAL. —Before leaving Lyttelton on Tuesday night, the engineers of the Wahine assembled to make a presentation of a silver entree dish to Mr. A. Tough, junior engineer, who is leaving to take up a position in Wellington. Mr. Tough, with the exception of a small break in 1919, has served on the Wahine since she first arrived in New Zealand. During the war period, when the vessel was taken over by the Admiralty, Mr. Tough rose to the position of Engineer Lieu tenant-Commander, R.N.R. Mr. E. Low. D. 5.0., chief engineer, made the presentation, and referred to the long and faithful service of Mr. Tough in the one vessel, both in times of peace and war. Mr. Tough feelingly replied and said he felt like parting with an old friend m leaving the Wahine after so many yeai‘s, and wished the old ship and her engineers the best of luck for the future. CANADIAN PROSPECTOR REPORTED.—A cable message from New York reports the arrival of the Canadian Government steamer Canadian Prospector, en route to Boston and Halifax. She left here on February 4 -with a cargo of New Zealand produce. ARGYLLSHIRE AT WAIKOKOPU.--The Argyllshire arrived at Waikokopu on Wednesday from Gisborne, to continue loading. The vessel is to leave Waikokopu this evening for Bluff, Port Chalmers and Wellington to complete loading:. She sails finally from the capital on March 27 for Hull and London. MAH ANA TO COMPLETE. —The Shaw, Savill and Albion Company’s steamer Maliana is due at Wellington on Sunday from Wanganui roadstead, where she is iioav loading. The vessel is fixed to sail from Wellington next Wednesday for London, via Panama. THE PORT HUNTER. —The C. and D. Line advises that the Port Hunter will leave Napier on Saturday for Wanganui roadstead and Wellington. The vessel is now expected at Wellington on March 24 and will sail finally flora there on March 29 for Lor don, via Panama. ADELAI DE-M ELBOU RN E SERVICE. — The Union Company advises that the Kaitangata has been fixed to load at Adelaide toward the end of March, and will complete at Edithburg and Melbourne for Auckland in the Adelaide-Melbourne-Auckland cargo service. TOFU A LEFT SUVA. —Reported by cable to have sailed from Suva at six o’clock last evening, en route from Tonga and Samoa to Auckland, the Union Company’s Island passenger steamer Tofua is bringing 33 passengers and a large quantity'of fruit. The vessel is due at Auckland next Monday. PIAKO- DISCHARGING. —The American and Australian Line’s chartered steamer Piako is discharging her general cargo from New York at Princes Wharf. The New Zealand Shipping Company, the local agent, advises that the vessel is to be dispatched from here to-morrow evening for Wellington. Lyttelton, Dunedin and Bluff to complete discharge. ECHUNGA DUE TO-NIGHT.—At midnight to-night the inter-State steamer Echunga is expected to arrive in the stream at Auckland with a cargo of Newcastle coal for the New Zealand Government Railways. Messrs. Dalgety and Company, who will act as the local agents, advise that the vessel will berth to-morrow morning at King’s Wharf to discharge. -

TAHITI AT SAN FRANCISCO.—The Royal Mail liner Tahiti is due at San 1 Francisco to-day from Wellington, via Rarotonga and Papeete. She will leave on the return with passengers, mails and cargo next Wednesday. OIL TANKER DUE.—To the agency of the British Imperial Oil Company, the tanker Oliva is expected to arrive at Auckland on Sunday morning next with a full cargo of bulk oil from San Pedro. The vessel will berth at Western Wharf to discharge. PRUNUS WITH PHOSPHATE. — Messrs. Henderson and Macfarlane have received advice that the steamer Primus will leave Casa Blanca for Auckland next Sunday. She will bring a full cargo of phosphate for this port only, being due early in May. MAH IA CLEARS BALBOA. —A cable message from Balboa reports the departure from there yesterday of the Shaw, Savill and Albion steamer Mahia, en route from London to Suva, Dunedin, Lyttelton, New Plymouth and Nelson. The vessel is due at Dunedin about April 6. IK ALA TO SAIL.—The New Zealand Shipping Company advises that the steamer Ikala is to sail for Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin, New Plymouth and Australia this evening in continuation of her voyage from Canada. She is at Queen's Wharf. WAIOTAPU FOR VANCOUVER.—The Union Company’s trans-Pacific cargo steamer Waiotapu was expected to leave Suva yesterday for Panning Island and Vancouver. She loads at Pacific Coast ports early next month for Papeete, Auckland, Wellington, Melbourne and Sydney. WAITE MATA SAILING.—To complete discharging her Pacific Coast cargo, the Union Company’s trans-Pacific cargo steamer Waitemata is to sail from Auckland at six o’clock this evening for Wellington, Melbourne and Sydney. The vessel arrived at Auckland on Monday last. O. A. KNUDSON REPORTED. Cabled news has been received stating that the tanker O. A. Knudson arrived at San Pedro on Sunday last from Wellington. The vessel is expected to leave again about the end of this week with a cargo of fuel oil for discharge into the Union Company’s tanks at Miramar, Wellington. DEVON SAILING.—In continuation of her homeward loading the Federal Line steamer Devon will leave for Nelson this evening. She will fill up at Picton, Lyttelton and Wellington, sailing finally from the last-mentioned port on April 5 for London and Hull, via Montevideo. The vessel brought a cargo of basic slag from Antwerp to Auckland. FOR WELLINGTON.— .The New Zealand Shipping Company reports that the Cornwall, now loading at Lyttelton, will leave there at 5 o’clock this evening for Wellington, where she is due on Saturday morning. The vessel is to sail finally from Wellington next Friday for London, Avonmouth, Glasgow and Liverpool.
