CREW TROUBLE DELAYS AUSTRALIAN SHIPS
NO PASSENGERS NEXT WEEK MAIL SERVICES MAINTAINED There* will be no Australian passenger steamer arriving at or sailing from New Zealand ports next week, because of trouble among the crews having caused delays to the Ulimaroa and Manuka. The Ulimaroa is experiencing trouble with the cooks, and is laid up indefinitely at Sydney, while the Manuka has been thrown out of schedule through having been delayed at Dunedin for five days on account of trouble in the stokehold. The laying up of the Ulimaroa has resulted in heavy bookings of passengers by the Maunganui and Marama. which will sail for Sydney to-morrow afternoon from Auckland and Wellington respectively. The vessels are scheduled to return to New Zealand on March 27. This probably will affect the bookings on the Royal Mail steamer Aorangi which will call at Auckland on March 25 on the way from Vancouver to Sydney. The postal department is endeavouring as far as possible to retain a regular mail service on every available cargo steamer until the regular schedule is resumed.
