KING’S SYMPATHY
| MESSAGES OF CONDOLENCE Reed. 10.30 a.m. LONDON, Tuesday. The King has sent a message to the Secretary for Air, Sir Samuel Hoare. stating: “I am grieved to learn of the loss that the Royal Air Force has suffered in the tragic death of Lieut. Kinkead, who had such a distinguished career. - Please convey my sincere sympathy to the relatives of this gallant airman.” A message from Rome says the news of Lieutenant Kinkead’s death was a shock to Signor Balbo, Under-Secre- _ tarv for Air. He said he became . friendly with and admired Lieutenant Kinkead during the preparations for ' the Schneider Cup race, in which the British airman was forced to retire after some very fine flying. As a mark of mourning, the Italian Air Minister Ifas ordered a suspension for three days of di Bernardi’s 1 speed trials at Lido, and has also telegraphed to the S f retary for Air, Sir ; Samuel Hoare, his Government’s con- ' dolences.—A. and N.Z.-Sun.
