By Cable. —P?iT?« Association. — Copyright. Received 0.5 a.m. SHANGHAI, Monday. THE climax of the enthusiasm evoked by the visit of the Governor of Hong-kong, Sir Cecil Clement! to Canton, was reached when General Liehai Sum ordered the tearing down of all anti-British posters which were pasted up at the height of the anti-British feeling.
JT is also reported that the Canton authorities are considering demolishing the monument erected in commemoration of the Shakee incident, and changing the name of the street which memorialises the occurrence of June 23, 1925, v/hicli involved bloodshed between the foreigners guarding the Shameen foreign quarter and the Whampoa Military Academy cadets led by Russians, when numbers pf cadets were killed. In the meantime Sir Miles Lamp-
son, the British Minister to Peking, continues to spread goodwill in Shanghai. He has been feted by leading Chinese organisations, necessitating the postponing of his return to the North. There are ominous warlike rumblings from Pekin. Marshal Chang Tso-lin is reported to be preparing an anti-Nationalist drive, but Shanghai Nationalists are not perturbed. The anniversary of General Sun *#"at Sen’s death to-day passed quietly.— A. and N.Z.
