SEARCHLIGHT CARNIVAL

INTER-HOUSE GIRLS’ SPORTS Spectacular massed displays and exciting athletic contests constitute the programme at the Inter-House Girls’ Searchlight Carnival, to be held at the Domain to-morro wnight. A full-dress rehearsal was held on Saturday, and all teams are confident that to-morrow’s programme will be one of the most spectacular ever presented to the public of Auckland. The popular girls’ brigade item, employing 150 girls, will be given prominence by request. This event has been supplemented with new effects, sure to find favour with the public. Another popular item will be the display of poi dancing by the girls of Victoria Maori Girls’ College. The whole programme of the carnival will demonstrate the great efficiency and keen spirit of the InterHouse Girls’ movement in Auckland. A handsome cup, donated by the Auckland Master Drapers* and Mercers’ Association will be awarded to the team with the highest aggregate marks. This is a special cup presented to the searchlight carnival committee, and becomes a property of the winning team. Special awards will also be made to the winners of the 75 yards sprint and the 50 yards hurdles.

The carnival is an effort by the House Girls on behalf of the Mayor's Unemployment relief fund.
