COMPANY SUES AUDITOR
FAILED TO DISCOVER THEFTS ALLEGATIONS DENIED Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, To-uay. \.n unusual case was heard in the Supreme Court to-day by Mr. Justice Ac amt. when the Todd Motor Company, following thefts from it by an accountant, sued Arthur L. Gray for alleging that he was the comauditor, and was negligent in no: discovering the thefts. The statement of claim set out that t h€> company employed Gray to audit !ts books and accounts, and he continued to do so until April, 1927. On Tjflfljch 31, 1127, the company discovered that moneys had been stolen by an accountant during the whole of the time Gray was the* company’s auditor. He was negligent in failing to exercise ordinary skill and care, and to discover the th«*fts. '’he defence was a denial of the allegations. The case is proceeding.
