TWENTY MEN PUT OFF

REDUCTION IN QUARRY STAFF

As the requirements for Rangitoto stone had dwindled, 20 workmen were put off from the island quarry this morning.

There were SO men employed at this work a few weeks ago, and the number will be further decreased by the Harbour Board. The board cannot find the unemployed any further work, now that the protecting wall at St. Mary’s Bay is almost complete, and the Rangitoto stone is not needed for any other work.
