CLAY-BIRD SHOOTING
(From Our Own Correspondent) THAMES, Monday. The Thames Rod and Gun Club was favoured with delightful weather for its fortnightly shoot on Saturday afternoon. The light was good and the onlookers witnessed excellent shooting, the possible number of “clays’’ being in almost every event. The chief event, the trophy presented by Dr. J. B. Liggins, was won by W. R. Smith, and W. Sparke and G. Shaw were the runners-up. The results are as follow: No. i SweejJstake, 7 birds.—W. R. Smith and Dr. Liggins shot the possible, and divided the stakes. No. 2 Sweepstake, 7 birds.—G. Shaw, Dr. Liggins and W. R. Smith secured the possible, and in the shoot-off Shaw and Liggins again tied, and divided the sweep. No. 3 Shoot, 8 birds (Dr. Liggins’s trophy).—W. R. Smith 1, W. Sparke and G. Shaw tied for second place. No. 4 Sweepstake, 7 birds (walk-up shoot).—G. Shaw, 1; W. R. Smith, 2; Dr. Liggins, 3. No. 5, Gimorack Sweep, 7 birds.—G. Shaw, 1: S. Miller, E. Thornton and W. R. Smith tied for second. No. 6 Sweepstake. 7 birds.—Dr. Liggins and G. Shaw shot the possible and divided the stake.
