SPEED CYCLISTS CRASH
WANGANUI ACCIDENTS COMMERCIAL TRAVELLER INJURED (From Our Own Correspondent) WANGANUI, To-day. No fewer than four speed cyclists crashed at the athletic gathering on Saturday night. J. Heffernan received an injury to his shoulder and was admitted to hospital, and A. Crichton received a painful abrasion. Guy Henderson, a commercial traveller, was involved in a painful accident on Saturday afternoon when he was standing outside the St. John’s bowling green. A car, about to park, shot forward and caught him on the legs, bending the joints back and straining the muscles and ligaments. Luckily he was standing against a wire netting fence, which gave way under the pressure, otherwise his legs would probably have been smashed to pulp.
