Fall at Picnic. —Mr. S. J. Bal, of 58 Union Stret, was competing in a race at a police picnic at Pine Island yesterday, when he fell. He was taken to the Auckland Hospital suffering from concussion. His condition is not serious. Child’s Throat Scalded. —A two-year-old child, Dorothy Woods, scalded her throat with hot tea at her home in Union Street on Saturday. She was taken to the Auckland Hospital by the St. John Ambulance. Her condition is not serious. Mount Eden Pa. —Certain suggestions have been forwarded to the Mount Eden Borough Council by Te Akarana Maori Association, following a meeting on the site of the Mount Eden pa on Saturday afternoon. A careful inspection of the ground was made by members, who devoted considerable time to the study of the old Maori fortifications. Sly Grog-Selling. —On a charge of sly grog-selling, Hugh O’Reilly, chemist, of Eastbourne, was fined £2O by Mr. T. E. Maunsell, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court on Saturday. A witness, Edward William Reynolds, said he passed defendant marked’ coins on behalf of the police.
