MOTOR RACE ACCIDENT

NOVICE RIDER HURT ARM AND LEG INJURED (From Our Ovm Correspondent) HAMILTON, Sunday. An accident occurred during the progress of the President’s Handicap, the seventh race, at the Hamilton MotorCycle Club’s races at Claudelands yesterday afternoon, a novice rider, Norman Scott, aged 17, being injured. Scott was turning a corner at the northern end of the racing track when his cycle skidded and crashed into a fence. The rider’s left arm and left leg* were broken. Dr. F. D. Pinfold and members of St. John Ambulance rendered first aid, and the ambulance conveyed Scott to a private hospital. His condition this evening was reported Lo be fair although, he is likely to be a long time in hospital. Scott is the son of Mr. Martin Scott, who acted as flag steward at the race meeting. He is a builder’s apprentice and resides in Rimu Street, Frankton.
