SERIES OF MISFORTUNES Roger Newnes, a farmer of Te Awa* mutu, met his creditors before the acting-official assignee, Mr. V. R. Crowhurst, in Hamilton, yesterday. Bankrupt said he was a soldier settler, who took up a section 16 miles from Te Awamutu, about seven years ago. He detailed a number of misfortunes from which he had suffered, chief among them being the fall in value of his farm from £l,BlO to £B4O. His unsecured debts totalled £3lO 10s 9d, and his assets were valued at £1,104, less £969 due to secured creditors.
