PIONEER’S DEATH
82 YEARS IN AUCKLAND Having spent her whole life in Auckland, Mrs. Elizabeth Mary Josephine Bailey died yesterday, aged 82. Daughter of Captain Conway, R.N., she spent her childhood in Hobson Street, and later married Mr. Edward A. Bailey, who died 30 years ago. A woman of charitable, kindly nature, she took active interest in social work in St. Patrick’s parish. Her two children are associated with the church, one being Sister M. Xaveria, of St. Joseph’s Home, and the other the Rev. Father Bailey, of Sydney. Requiem Mass was celebrated at St Benedict’s? Church this morning.
