HOLIDAY AT MOUNT COOK GUESTS OF CRICKET COUNCIL Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, To-day. The Australian cricket team will, at the conclusion of their tour, spend a few days at Mount Cook, as the guests of the New Zealand Cricket Council. They will return to Christchurch on Easter Monday, in time to catch the ferry steamer for Wellington on the same evening. HAURAKI V. THAMES {From Our Oven Correspondent) NGATEA, Monday. One of the series of annual home-and-home matches between teams representing the Hauraki Plains and the Thames Cricket Associations was played on Saturday last, and in each grade the Thames team was victorious. At Kopuarahi, where the “A” teams met, the Hauraki team was dismissed for 77 and Thames replied with 134. Batting for Thames, F. Gibson got 30, Dr. W. Sowerby 24 and R. Cleave 20, while for the Plains C. Stretton securied 21 not out, Rus. Green 19 and R. D. Macklow 12. The best bowlers were:—Thames: F. Gibson, 2-S; J. Buchan, 3-12; and Plains: B. Nolan, 4-34. In the “B” grade match at Turua the home team made 35 and 72 and the visitors 66 and 41 for four wickets. The outstanding batsmen were: W. O’Neil, 39 not out for Plains, and M. Dane, 19 for Thames, while the bowling honours went to A. Dave, 4-4, and M. Dave, 4-2, for Thames.
