ROBBING ONE ANOTHER
RESEARCH WORKERS LOST TO CANADA POOR PAY TO BLAME By Cable.—Press Association. — Copyright. Reed. 11.30 a.m. VANCOUVER, Mon. “Australia has robbed Canada of two of its leading scientific research workers, because they were not paid enough here,” said Mr. C. C. Julius, the Australian Trade Commissioner, before the Canadian Club. Professor Dickson, of the Macdonald College, Montreal, and Professor Slagg, head of the tobacco section of the Federal Department of Agriculture, were the two to whom he referred. Mr. Julius made a plea for intraEmpire co-operation in scientific research. If the Empire units joined in. investigations, he said, there would be no robbing one another. The shortage of Government research workers was due to the poor pay.—A. and N.Z.
