HIGHER-THOUGHT CENTRE
CONSECRATION OF NEW TEMPLE Another milestone in 20 years of preaching its creed in Auckland was reached by the Centre of Higher Thought yesterday, when the society’s fine new temple was consecrated. There was a large attendance at the ceremony, which was performed bv the president, Mi> T. W. Silcock, who was supported by Mrs. Silcock, Mr. F. J. Dawson, Mr. J. E. Mortimer, Mr. M. Walker, and Mr. H. F. Robinson. The speakers related incidents of the early days of the movement in Auckland and explained their creed, which was that of an undenominational church, founded to enable all people to study the principles of religion, without the hampering restrictions of ritual or dogma. The society, said one of the speakers, did not run counter to the teaching of any of the established churches, but widened the scope of thought and allowed individual freedom in belief. The greatest of thankfulness was expressed that the society now had a permanent home instead of being a wandering unit.
